QUALITIES OF A GOOD LEADER

2019 is vigorously knocking at the

door of "the giant of Africa" again. This time, a grand and historic decision is to be made at the opening of the door.

It is therefore pertinent to create lots of orientations and awareness on the need to choose right by studying and getting familiar with the traits and qualities of a good leader and keying in to self discipline for the purpose of shunning every form of inducement and electoral fraud.

Electorates should note that selling their votes is selling their rights and by extension, their entire destinies just for a token. Is it worth it?

Therefore, the onus rests on us all to subject every political office seekers to a thorough scrutiny to ascertain his behaviour, pedigree, moral and spiritual rectitude, his achievements, his community service assignment, how trustworthy, dependable, reliable he is, how sound and fit he/she is to deliver on assignments given to him and so on.

Part of these qualities of a good leader to watch out for are discussed below. Please, don't be fooled or deceived.

Note that if their reason for seeking leadership or vying for political position is to earn a living, then, it will be right to tell them to go and intensify effort at getting the right job. Politics or leadership isn't a profession.

If the reason for seeking elective posi

tion is to amass wealth that ordinarily wouldn't have been possible even if they had lived for 1,000 years and had the highest paid job, then tell them to go dig their gold elsewhere.

If the reason for seeking power is to settle scores with their political enemies, or get them perpetually buried in political graveyards, then you won't be wrong to tell them that they are simply immature and myopic and don't forget to add that they should find other means for executing devilish intent. But caution them to note that they are only digging their early and hellish grave!

If the reason for seeking to perpetuate themselves in power is to block the chances of the less privileged who are young, productive and smart but whom they regard as threats to their greedy political ploys and ventures, then the voice of the people shall rise up to the most high to thunder down His wrath on them. Do not forget to remind them of the end of Pharaoh in the Bible.

All of the above are no characteristics of a good leader.

👉🏽 A good leader serves his/her people by protecting their positive interests, and serving their needs. He/she does not expect to be served as we have it today. Please always remember that "to lead is to serve".

👉🏽 A good leader stands in the gap for his people, his followers, no matter how tough and rough the terrain is.

👉🏽 A good leader is like a hen that protects its chicks against all odds, even the bit of a snake!

👉🏽 A good leader pays attention to the cries of his people like a good mother does to the cries of her baby.

Therefore, if you are still bent on being a leader, know that it is a call to serve and not to be served! Are you ready to truly serve?
